Thursday’s Child

Thursday brought some interesting news! I managed to get a last minute place on the Pick n Pay Argus cycle tour.

I asked around a few months ago and no-one was able to help, so when the opportunity arose on Thursday, I felt like I couldn’t say no. One slight problem I haven’t done any training.

I’ve wanted to participate in the grueling 110km ride since I moved to Cape Town 3 years ago. So I got some short term training tips from one of Cape Towns best mountain bikers, and intense hill training was the order of the week.

As I write this my body is pretty stiff so hopefully I’m doing something right. Although I feel that training with a week to go is a little futile.

All I want to do is finish and not be collected by the sweep vehicle and driven back to the start.

This time next week I’ll be on the road arghhhhh, I’m scared.
