Have you figured out the second head fake?

“Really achieving your childhood dreams”

Randy Pausch was a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburg and an inspiration to millions of people most of whom he had never met. Pausch was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and died on the 25th July 2008.

Before his diagnosis Pausch was going to participate in a speaker series “The last lecture”, where professors write a speech as though they are taking their last lecture before they die. Pausch used his last lecture to impart with his wisdom. He encouraged people to achieve their dreams and to help other fulfill theirs.

At the end of his lecture, Pausch asked “did you figure out the second head fake?”  His lecture wasn’t about how to achieve your dreams it was about how to live your life, the talk wasn’t for the audience it was for his children, emphasizing what was important in his final days.

His lecture was written for 3 people not the 400 strong audience or the millions that would watch it on Youtube.

People are inspired by everyday people with everyday messages they can relate to. Pausch left an inspirational legacy for his children.
