City Bowl Market on Hope Street

The City Bowl Market takes place every Saturday bewteen 9am-2pm, it is housed in a beautiful old building on Hope Street, Gardens. The market has over 50 traders selling predominantly food and fresh produce.

It faces stiff competition from the deluge of new markets and especially from the more established Biscuit Mill, one of Cape Town’s most popular weekend markets that has really set the standard, but with its growing popularity it has become over crowded and the produce is expensive.

The City Bowl Market has potential. It ticks all the boxes, bar upstairs, garden and play area for kids as well as inside and outside seating areas to enjoy your breakfast or lunch.

It has only been open for a month and the selection of breakfast and lunch options are relatively limited, I feel that it needs a wider variety of food on offer to fill the seating area in the centre if the hall which would create the atmosphere it’s lacking and keep people coming back.

Defiantly worth checking out
