The 10 most unexpected consequences of being online

1. Being stalked.

2. Stalking other people.

3. Making contact with forgotten friends (again this could constitute as stalking).

4. Closing the distance – being online has created the opportunity to share my life here with family and friends at home, through; emails, sending and receiving of video clips and pictures home doesn't seem quite so far away.

5. Finding the love of your life, these days it doesn’t have to mean a mail order Thai bride. I have two friends that have married the person that they met online dating and they aren’t freaks or wildly obese or disfigured in anyway.

6. The potential to gamble away your life savings without even stepping foot in a casino.

7. Knowledge is power, being able to find out pretty much anything at the click of a button.

8. The evil that transpires from anonymity, those that abuse the online community.

9. Although you may think your information is safe, there is always someone with the capabilities and the know how to access your personal information and secrets.

10. One thing that I find slightly disturbing is the sheer amount of time we spend on our Blackberries, facebook, twitter, email etc. Will we look back in years to come and think, Why wasn't I outside making the most of my life, meeting people face to face???
