Mountain bike adventures

My friend, Sarah called on Friday morning asking if I wanted to do a ‘funride’ on Sunday. I haven’t been on my bike since the Argus and I thought it was about time to dust off the cobwebs.

When the alarm went off at 6:15 am on Sunday I started to question my sanity.

We arrived at Nitida, wine farm and started unpacking our bikes from the boot of the car and attempted to reassemble them, I am not overly skilled in this department so enlisted the assistance of two rather large beer bellied Afrikaans guys that had parked next to us.

The ‘funride’ turned out to be two laps of a professional X country mountain biking course, with some rather steep hills and some rather professional looking funriders!

Slowly but surely we made it round our two laps, not without having to walk up a couple of the steeper hills I might add.

When we returned to the car the two rather large men that had assisted us were puffing on their cigarettes and seemed pretty impressed by the fact we had completed the two laps and they had bailed out after the first!
